Word #30. With.
I often tell my children, “I simply like being with you.”
Savoring physical togetherness shifts my demeanor from feeling rushed to being peaceful.
“Come read in the kitchen while I do the dishes.” No conversation necessary. No agenda. Just an invitation to do life in each other’s presence. It’s like moving from winter to spring. The most mundane task seems to bring new life.
The Pasture – by Robert Frost
I’m going out to clean the pasture spring;
I’ll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I sha’n’t be gone long. – You come too.
I’m going out to fetch the little calf
That’s standing by the mother. It’s so young,
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I sha’n’t be gone long. – You come too.
