Word #70. Equip.

Training and teaching do not necessarily include equipping.

When you equip, you prepare and empower.

Equipping includes a sending off with confidence.  “You are fully prepared for this.” These are powerful words for child of any age to hear.

How do we equip our children for the challenges that lie ahead in their lifetimes?

Rather than simply telling them what to do or giving them books and lectures, we can share with them tools, processes and frameworks to practice and master over time. From goal-setting to facilitating a discussion; and from resolving a conflict to managing a project – there are recipes and templates no amount of knowledge can replace.

“You are equipped for this,” I will say to my son in  a couple of weeks as I drop him off at college. And I have no doubt he is.
